Welcome to the Troop 350 Summer Camp 2008 Page

Your Campmaster is: Mr. Brian Pletcher

Key Resources:

Here is where you'll find information about the Troop visit to Camp Comer on June 15-21.

Camp Overview and Presentation

Check out the updated Camp Presentation which includes information about:
  • Directions
  • Schedule
  • Family Night Information
  • What to bring (and NOT bring)
  • Medicine and Money Policy
  • Gear and personnel Check-in and Itinerary

Camp Schedules, Merit Badges and Advancement

Mr. Johnston has provided an Advancement Tracking Spreadsheet and Schedule for all Scouts. If you need help with the username and password, drop me a line.

Packing Lists

Mr. Hauser has offered up a recommended packing list from previous Summer Camp events ( Word | PDF ) for individuals and for the needed Troop Gear ( Word | PDF ). Take a look to double-check you have what you need for a great trip!

Also note! "Everything that goes to Camp, Doesn't always come home from Camp." So parents, you may want to re-think sending the family's $200 dollar digital camera to camp and replace it with a $5 single use camera.

Swim Tests

Mr. Johnston will conduct a pre-camp Simming Test at 6:00pm on Fri 13 June at Dublin Park. If you need time to prepare, start now. You must swim 75 yds using a strong stroke, and 25 yds using the elementary backstroke, then you must float on your back for one minute. You can not touch the sides or bottom during the test.

Transportation and Schedule

Sat 14 June: Meet at St. John's at 1:00pm to load the trailers, turn in Medicine to the Medicine Man, and turn in Spending Cash to Adult ATM (optional)

Sun 15 June: Meet at Bob Jones South Parking Lot at 10:00am for sign-in and Car Pool assignments. Bring sack lunch (Troop will provide drinks). Depart 10:45am.

Medicine and Physical Forms

Medication will be turned into the Troop Medicine Man on Sat 14 June. Also bring a signed Scout Medication Form.

Download your physical forms from the Official BSA pages. Scroll down and see the "Forms" area. You need either a Class 1, 2, or 3 form. See below for guidance. You must have an up-to-date physical for Summer Camp. Here are the requirements:

Health forms are required for all campers and leaders and MUST be signed by a licensed physician. A Personal Health and Medical Record (Class I and Class II) form is required for youth and adults under 40. Leaders over age 40 MUST use Class III physical forms. The class I section must be updated annually for all participants and signed by the parent (if under 18) indicating the Scouts' general good health. Scouts and leaders participating in any of the off-camp high adventure programs must have a Class III physical. Health forms should provide specific instructions regarding emergency contacts that can be reached, where and at what time. This is very important.

Adult Leader Training

One final note for Adults. Please update your Youth Protection Training before camp. You should do this even if you are not a registered leader. Go to the Greater Alabama Council web site, and click "Leader Training". Then click "Youth Protection Training". Follow the instructions. I have had problems in the past with getting documentation from the council. So if you come to a page that says you completed the course, print it out as proof. (You may also want to update your Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat training).
