Troop 350 Venture Patrol

The Venture Patrol is geared toward keeping the older Scouts active in the Troop by providing them with additional opportunities to keep their interest. The older Scouts now have two paths to remain in Scouting, they may continue in our current patrol structure and programs, or they may join the Venture Patrol.

The Mission of the Venture Patrol is 3 Part:

  • High Adventure
  • Troop Service
  • Community Service

The Requirements to join the Venture Patrol are as follows:

  • Are 14 Years or older.
  • Are Star rank or higher.
  • Have First Aid Merit Badge.
  • Have Swimming Merit Badge.
  • Have current BSA Class 3 Personal Health and Medical Record
  • Successfully pass Fitness Test. (See Below)
  • Both Scout and Parents or Guardian have a real interest in High Adventure.
As with the current Troop, the Scouts select and plan their High Adventure activities. High Adventure activities are performed in accordance with "The Guide To Safe Scouting."

The Scouts remain part of and active within the Troop. As part of the Mission to provide Troop Service, they are expected to be active in Troop Leadership, to actively assist the Troop Guide in the development of the younger Scouts, and to provide training sessions at Troop meetings and outings. It is projected that the Venture Patrol Scouts participate in the Troop outings approximately 50 percent of the time and in separate Venture High Adventure activities for the remaining 50 percent of the time.

As part of the Mission to provide Community Service, the Venture Patrol Scouts are expected to actively assist fellow Scouts in Eagle Service Project activities and to participate in other community service projects chosen by the Patrol members.

The role of the parent or guardian will be focused on support of the Venture Patrol activities. Each High Adventure activity requires an Expert or Consultant who has the special skill or talent required to properly teach the Scouts. The parents will be asked to actively recruit the Expert or Consultant through their friends, co-workers or other contacts. For most High Adventure outings, a maximum of 2 Adults plus the Expert or Consultant will be established. Each Adult participating in an outing will be required to have previously passed the same Fitness Test as the Scouts.
